Abandoned pets

With the increase in foreclosures, people are abandoning their pets as well as their homes. There is absolutely no excuse for this type of behavior and to those guilty of leaving their animals behind, may this be just the beginning of your economic hardships which hopefully will continue on so that you get to see your children go to bed hungry every night.

I agree that it is abhorrent to abandon any animal. We have several pets in our home, and the thought of them being left to slowly starve makes me very sad indeed. But with that said, what kind of insensitive schmuck would make a point by wishing any form of suffering on innocent children? There are all kinds of nice, juicy adjectives to describe someone of your ilk, but decorum and a general sense of decency prohibits me from using them here.

When I wrote my post I was aware of the possibility that some shallow thinker of your ilk might respond, so for your benefit I will add the implied qualifiers :

(1) The children are old enough not to be entirely innocent. I'm talking 12-year-old not 2-year-old. They should have been constantly crying for their pets to the point where their parents had no choice but to go back for them, or not have left them in the first place.

(2) Clearly their hunger is to be limited to only a very few nights, and we're talking mild hunger here not starvation hunger.

Otherwise I fully stand by my statement. The punishment has to fit the crime.
